Projects and Resources
GalaxyGoo develops educational software for math and science. Our projects are freely available to educators, students, and the general public. Most are web-based and involve the use of Flash. A sampling of our projects are featured on the sidebar to the right.
We try to tackle difficult subjects. Concepts that may be challenging to communicate. For example, the relationship between the sine curve and the rotation of the radius around the circle is succinctly demonstrated with our Sine Curve Visualization Tool.
Most of our projects are initiated by an educator or subject expert, and have their own target audience. For example, the Sine Curve Visualization Tool is aimed at Trigonometry students, and the Neuromuscular Junction Simulation is aimed at Anatomy and Physiology students. The word search game is for anyone.
We've written (or collected) several text articles, most of which are intended as resources for development of current and future projects. These range from how to write an abstract to notes on prions and antibiotics. We've made them public so that more people can benefit from them.
Many of our projects are released as open source. For these projects, the source code is freely available for developers to download, study, and incorporate into their own projects.

As an educator , our resources are freely available to you. If you don't have an internet connection in the classroom, you can request a stand-alone version of many of our learning tools.
Your feedback is essential. When you tell us what works, or doesn't work, in your classroom, we can better meet your needs as an educator. Is there a subject you'd like us to tackle? Would you like to help us test our learning tools?
As a scientist, you can contribute your expert knowledge, either by evaluating an existing project or by proposing a new project.
There are many ways for educators and scientists to get involved at GalaxyGoo.

Artists. Artistic expressions of science and mathematics play a big role at GalaxyGoo, and are prominent in the GalaxyGoo Media & Arts Lab. In 2005, we held the first Art Intersect Science show in downtown San Francisco. We also feature artists events in our widely read blog.
Developers. GalaxyGoo supports experimental projects in our Media & Arts Lab, especially in Flash. Many of our projects are open source, and can be downloaded for you to study and incorporate into your own projects.
Parents. Raising science literate children can be fun for the whole family. We're currently working on resources for parents. If you'd like to be notified when they become available, please contact us.

Just for fun. It's important to remember to have some fun. From time to time, we create games and computational art. Have you ever tried to spell words with the symbols in the periodic table of elements or watched a kaleidoscopic cell?
