Signs Should be Signs
To be most effective, signs should clearly be signs, and not buried in a decorative element. I wasn't the only guy in the new terminal of Charles de Gaulle airport who looked around a bit confused, looking for this:
Yeah, I know it's cute, and I'd even say it's an attractive design, but the significant information (the male figure) is aboscured by decoration, and doesn't work as an effective label. Especially in an environment where a lot of people are going to need the bathroom, and the security lines are backing up rapidly.

Rob, I gotta agree with you on this completely! It's nice as a design element, to reinforce a clear label, but just isn't enough on it's own.
There's not much more pressing that trying to find a restroom in an airport :-)
