plotting link

I hope Kim doesn't mind me shining a spotlight, but this is very cool...in my opinion. Great potential. Creative! I wish I could have played with this when I had to take statistics!

XML-fed menu on Main

I've been playing around with a simple XML-fed menu for the main page.

The "Features" menu is the test case. I left the "Who are we?" menu in flash4, as comparison.

Normally, I'd stick with a flash4 export for a menu like this, but the benefits of MX were just too yummy to resist: XML handling, remote code attachment...

Any bugs to report?

Listed on Lists

I did a search for galaxygoo.org on allTheWeb today, and found that about 30 webdirectories recently listed our wordsearch game.

AlltheWeb.com: Web pages results for www.galaxygoo.org

It looks like they're mostly from DMOZ.

Ego Elevation

Today, my profile was added to the flashgodess website.

What is GalaxyGoo

This weekend, at a social gathering, I was asked to explain what galaxygoo is. Is it a web site? Is it an online forum? Who is it for?

The best analogy I could come up with, on the spot, was that it was an open artists' studio and think-tank, with an adjacent gallery.

New Site Structure

For a while now, I've been working on a new site structure for GalaxyGoo: one that reflects the active nature of what we're building and will accomodate further integration and improvements.

Here's a diagram of it. Come discuss it in the forums.

Let's get together

We're researching collaborative tools for the site. What do we need? What do we want? What do we already have that can be integrated or expanded?

Here are some of the needs I see:

1. Version management of source code
2. Individual and collaborative sandbox support
3. Gallery, for public display of projects at various stages of development
4. Interdisciplinary
5. Public acknowledgment of participation.

Come join the discussion in our forums.
