What's going on here?

This animation shows the number of cases and deaths (confirmed by laboratory testing and reported by WHO) of avian flu on a world map.

When the user moves their mouse over any of the red data bars (on the map), they reveal the numbers represented by that bar. To aide geographic recognition, the name of the country is also revealed.

Technologies used for this data visualization include Flash and XML. New data can be added to the XML file, as it becomes available. The data is rendered with client-side logic, using Flash.
